Fabrics
I use a range of sustainable fabrics to make my garments. All fabrics are washed and dried prior to cutting and sewing, meaning all items are preshrunk. All garments are machine washable and dryable unless otherwise noted in product descriptions. That being said--all garments will last longer the less they go in the dryer. If you're able to hang your items to dry, that will definitely extend their life!
Hemp/Organic Cotton Jersey
55% hemp/45% organic cotton light-medium weight knit. Used for tunics and dresses, t-shirts and tank tops, and skirts. This fabric has lovely drape, a slight nubbly texture, is super durable and long lasting, gets softer with wear, and is totally machine washable and dryable.
Hemp/Organic Cotton Stretch Jersey
54% hemp/43% organic cotton/3% spandex light-medium weight jersey. Used for pants, leggings, some tops and dresses, and waistbands. This fabric is durable and long lasting, gets softer with wear, and is totally machine washable.
Linen/Cotton
55% linen/45% organic cotton midweight woven fabric. A durable fabric that is equal parts structured and soft. This fabric has been preshrunk, but as linen can continue to shrink lengthwise, it's not a terrible idea to hang this one to dry. Line drying also helps avoid the need to iron.
Hemp/Organic Cotton Chambray
55% hemp/45% organic cotton light-midweight woven fabric. A durable and soft fabric with the look of lightweight denim. This is my favourite summer fabric! Cool and easy to wear. Though it's fully machine washable and dryable, line drying will remove the need to iron.
Bamboo/Cotton Stretch Jersey
66% rayon from bamboo, 28% cotton, 6% spandex medium weight knit. This fabric is silky soft, stretchy and lovely to wear. But once it's gone, it's gone--bamboo fabric is known as a semi-synthetic, and is nowhere near as eco friendly as hemp, organic cotton and linen. Though this bamboo is produced in a closed loop system (meaning the chemicals used to produce it are reused in the system rather than discharged into waterways), I'll be discontinuing it once I run out of the stock I have.
